Contemporary Dance/Contemporary Fusion
Contemporary dance is a genre that developed during the 20th century that embraces innovation. The interpretive dance style blends techniques from various genres including classical ballet, modern dance, and jazz. Contemporary dance isn’t restricted by rules that govern traditional concert dance techniques. Instead, it relies on improvisation and is characterized by freedom of movement. In our contemporary dance classes, students will receive technical training composed of dynamic movement, floor work, and intricacy. Beyond the physical movement, students will be encouraged to explore their mind-body connection, improvisation, and self-expression.
Contemporary Fusion is a further evolved genre of dance. What makes a Contemporary Fusion class different from Contemporary dance class? Contemporary Fusion implements characteristics of street styles and focuses more on musicality. Classes will apply the movement quality and dynamics found in Contemporary dance into learning sequences choreographed to popular music.
